Diagnosing diseases / pests

Like all living things, trees can contract diseases some of which may be fatal. In addition, as with other plants they also may fall prey to pests. You may notice buds, shoots or leaves becoming discoloured, dying or shrivelling or even spot the pest on the branches or leaves. However, other conditions or pests are far harder to spot. Our professional teams, though, have the knowledge and experience to both diagnose and treat the tree.

Coppicing

This is a technique that involves removing shoots that are close to ground level. The purpose of coppicing is to encourage healthy growth and can help to shape young trees. This technique is more often used in woodland or where there are stands or coppices of trees than for single trees.

Reshaping

While many trees have lovely and pleasing natural shapes, some species do not. Furthermore, some trees may not have the space, light or other necessary environmental factors to allow them to grow naturally. As a result it may become misshapen. Our tree surgeons will assess the tree and carefully trim and cut branches so that the tree regains a good and appealing shape.

Transplanting

Sometimes trees must be moved from one position to another. This also requires skill so that the tree does not suffer root shock and die after being transplanted. We can also advise on the most suitable new situation.

Felling / Dismantling

Sometimes a tree is too old, too sick or is already dead. A tree like this presents a danger to life and property and must be taken down. In a confined space, a tree must be dismantled branch by branch. In areas where there is more space it can be felled. In either case the kind of skill, judgement and experience our tree surgeons have is necessary to dismantle or fell a tree safely.

Stump removal

When a tree has been felled or dismantled and removed, the stump remains. If you don’t want the stump to stay in the ground, we have the right equipment and materials to remove it from the ground.
