For those customers who don’t want a lawn that has to be watered, fertilised and mowed there is an alternative – artificial lawn. Fast Landscape Gardening offers this great option for very shaded gardens or ones where grass is frequently damaged by foot traffic or animals including pets. There are in fact a number of advantages to using artificial rather than grass lawn:
It is child-friendly and pet-safe.
It doesn’t fade or change colour even in the harshest sun.
It can be used for either domestic or commercial premises.
It creates an even surface which will remain that way.
It is environmentally friendly as it doesn’t require regular watering and the use of weed-killers and fertilizers.
It is soft underfoot and weathers well.
It is quick to install, even in a fairly large area.
It is ideal for roof gardens as there is no weight from soil and turf.
It can be laid on any surface.
The process of artificial grass laying is not too technical but it is time consuming and may be tricky. Why not leave it to our trained, fully insured, professional and highly experienced landscape gardeners?
We begin by removing existing turf and the grass roots. A layer of sand similar to builder’s sand is then spread over the area to form the base for the artificial turf. Our landscapers then carefully level and compact the sand base. The final stage is to spread out a membrane that will prevent weeds from growing under the turf.
The turf is then rolled out so that the whole pile points in the same direction. The sections are staggered rather than laid in rows so that there are no visible lines between rows of turf. Once the landscaper is satisfied with the results, the edges are joined using a special adhesive tape. The turf fibres are roughened slightly to hide the join.
Finally, special pins are used to fasten the edges of the artificial lawn in place and the edges are neatened. The entire artificial lawn is then brushed to make it look as natural as possible.
